What’s been happening at FKHQ then? We took the children camping to Worcester and had a most pleasing time sunning ourselves (not often I type those words), catching up with friends and having a brilliant all round time.
Here are the birthday girls blowing out some improvised candles.
Aren’t they cute?
The navy sun dress is one I made for Katherine and will be up on the website to order in the very near future.
We are already looking to autumn/winter 2013/14 and the emails are already landing with previews of new fabrics to order. The Scandinavians really do know how to brighten up the dark nights with their beautiful Nordic designs. Expect the unexpected, as usual.
In other news, we’re having a mid-season sale at the moment in both the fabric and funky stuff departments. Lots of lovely bargains to be had so go have a rummage. Stock is limited so be quick!
In the near future we are thinking of offering a gift wrapping service at no extra charge and welcome your thoughts on this. We are always open to suggestions and ideas and would love to see photos of our products that you have received and any anecdotes of products you have bought from us.
After the recent Royal Mail price increases we have taken the decision to stop using their services where possible and will be sending future orders out using a courier. This should not affect postage prices in the UK although we are still looking into international delivery prices.
And finally, here’s birthday girl Verity in her Bambi dress. I’m told from a reliable source (her mum) that she loves it. Rightly so too.
So once again I’m up to my armpits in paint. No, not literally. Nor am I doing my own version of tv’s Splash! sponsored by Dulux. I’m on the move again. I’ve taken one of the slightly larger units on the ground floor which will hopefully grab me more customers who will not be able to escape the pull of my lovely stuff calling to them. The keen amongst you good folk will remember that it was only last November that I first settled into the original unit on the first floor, which was also lovingly decorated with my subtle touch of ‘poke your eye out pink’ ™.
Ok first up on the news front is we have some new suppliers. Yippee! Welcome aboard the good ship FK to Twisted Tee, Tee and Toast and Moomins. Each working day feels more and more like I’m off to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party which is good, as that forms part of my company mission statement. All shiny precious things will be with us by end of January at the latest and I will be putting them on the website as they land.
Already landed, unpacked, swooned over and kissed, are these marvellous mono print jersey fabrics from Lillestoff. All are GOTS certified which is something we have come to expect from our fabulous supplier. It is now on the website to buy-as-quick-as-you-can and is available from £5.49. Colours available of red, blue and green. Very versatile, hard wearing and easy to care for.
On a final note, the Moomins are coming! In their droves. Also with us by the end of January. There will be a fantastic selection of household goodies with their adorable faces on them.
We’d like to say a happy new year to all of our fabulous customers and a hello, bienvenue, wellkommen and bonjour to our new customers *big wave*
Keeping you in the loop of what has been happening at FKHQ, we’re moving units at Traders Outlet in Sale. We’ve already outgrown the one we have (after only 7 weeks!) so we’re putting castors on everything and settling in to our new place in the new year. There’s also going to be a huge overhaul of the website with more stock being added so that more will be available to buy online as well as offline in the physical store.
We’ll also be asking you, dear reader, to send in any suggestions of things you would like to see in the shop and in particular, what items you would like tos see being made up out of our funky fabrics.
Of course it goes without saying that New Year brings new stock and boy, we have some corkers for you. Lots of Swedish organic fabrics that are either GOTS or OEKOTEX certified. Many of you will be thrilled to learn that the Summer fabric from Znok will be featuring and we will be taking pre-orders on this as there were many disappointed customers when we ran out of it. It will be landing during January and will be availabe in half metres as well as fully metres. £9.95 and £19.89 respectively. You may also love to know that this time it’s organic. Woop! Drop me an email if you would like to reserve this fabric as it sells out FAST!
There have been many highlights this year business wise and we’re looking forward to expanding even further in 2013. Of course we couldn’t do it without you guys out there. On that note, we’d like to wish a very happy new year to you and yours.
…remind me of something but nothing in particular.
So, this week sees lots of new fabrics for autumn/winter and in particular, the festive period in between.
Never ones to disappoint, Znok has thrown some excellent ones our way. And who are we to refuse? Resistence is futile. Top of the list and one with lots of pre-orders to fulfill, is ‘Vinter’ or to use the vernacular, Winter. Those Scandinavians know how to confuse me – it’s very easy, honestly.
Next up is ‘Crowded Jungle’ or as they say in Sweden, ‘Crowded Jungle’. In case you haven’t noticed I don’t have the Swedish version. Anyhoo, both of these fabrics are the usual mahoosive 150cm wide. Both Oekotex certified and both are soft, strong and very, very long. Oh wait…I’m getting confused. Both are made of the usual high quality organic cotton that we have come to know and love from Znok.
Our new(ish) supplier is Liandlo and I think you’ll agree that these too hit the spot with their jolly scenes of gnomes, squirrels, trees and all the usual little creatures that normally feature.
‘Landet, lilla snigel’ also features snails and translates as ‘farm’ on their website. But we’ve done some sniffing around and we uncovered some completely different meaning. More of which later.
Last up is ‘I ett hus i skogens slut’ which we are led to believe means ‘in the forest‘ but we know better. Both of these fabrics are in fact, the titles from Swedish nursery rhymes. They are super duper wide at 170cm and are GOTS certified.
And finally, here is what we found when we put Landet, Lilla Snigel into Google. I’m thinking Gareth Malone should get some construction workers to cover this.
