It seems that June is the month for celebrating Scandinavian cultures. On the back of yesterdays Danish Grundlovsdag (and Fathers’ Day), today is Sweden’s turn to celebrate; it’s Nationaldagen!
Nationaldagen is a day of celebration in Sweden. It’s a relatively new national holiday, beginning in 2005, when it replaced Whit Monday.
It signifies the end of the Danish-ruled Kalmar Union, so in a sense it is a marking of Swedish independence.
So all you lovely Swedish people out there today, enjoy your day off. Have fun meeting with friends and family. Enjoy your fika and raise your voices for Den blomstertid nu kommer!
Our Michael Miller Sale is now on! With up to 25% off, these lovely fabrics won’t hang around.
They’re all really versatile and if you’re after something funky for your quilting project or you’d like to make some clothing, they all lend themselves well.
We have to make some more room for funkiness so we’re sharing the love with you!
(sale finishes end of October)
